If you applied for a Private Current Account before this date, this account is no longer on sale. You can continue to use your account as usual. For more information, take a look at our Legal and Compliance page.

Statements

We'll add your monthly statement to your mailbox in Mobile Banking. In Online Banking, you can find it in your 'Statements and documents’. You can update your paper-free preferences in Mobile and Online Banking.

You can ask for paper statements in branch, by phone or Chat. You can choose to get them every month or every 3 months. You can also ask for your statements in an alternative format, such as braille.

Private Current Account (v2):

  • Premium Debit Card
  • Withdraw up to £1,500 daily from cash machines*
  • No fees for using your debit card to withdraw cash and make payments anywhere outside the UK†
  • Access to 10,000 branches in 11 countries
  • Monthly interest of 2.50% AER / 2.47% gross** (variable) on balances up to £25,000. Rates subject to change
  • £5 monthly fee to maintain the account
  • Pay in at least £1,500 a month and set up two or more active direct debits

* Not all cash machines allow you to withdraw £1,500 in one transaction so you may need to take out your money in multiple transactions. 
† The 0% foreign conversion fee is applied 3 working days after you’ve opened or transferred to the Private Current Account (v2). If you use your debit card outside the UK before then, the standard foreign currency conversion fee of 2.95% will apply. This fee is non-refundable. Local banks may charge their own fees when you use one of their cash machines and you should make sure you understand what these are before making a withdrawal. 
**AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and shows what the interest rate would be if we paid interest and added it to your account each year.
The gross rate is the interest rate we pay where no income tax has been deducted. Rates may change and we pay interest each month.

As well as sterling, you can choose to hold US dollar and euro accounts through Santander International and Cater Allen.

Cashback and other rewards

Private banking clients enjoy 1% cashback on selected household bills and essential spend at supermarkets and day-to-day travel. Plus cashback, discounts and other offers at a wide range of retailers through Santander Boosts

From 9 September 2025, we’re removing the 1% cashback (up to £15 a month) at supermarkets and on travel costs when you use your debit card.

The Private Current Account (v2) will still offer 1% cashback on selected household bills when you pay by Direct Debit (up to £15 a month).
